NB: Groups will be a maximum of 15 in size allowing for small group discussion.

Jon Kabat Zinn describes mindfulness as bringing your complete attention to the present moment. It is paying attention with a non-judgemental attitude and fostering an attitude of curiosity, exploration, kindness and basic friendliness to everything we experience. The 8 Week MBSR course is a practical and experiential course. It is a highly acclaimed and evidence based stress reduction programme used in medical centres across the world to help people deal with the stress of modern day living, anxiety, depression and chronic pain. A range of Mindfulness practices will be taught, including gentle stretching and mindful movement, exploring stress reactions and mindful stress responses, hand-outs, audio practices and guided home practice.

 

What will I get out of the course?

 

The course aims to assist you in taking better care of yourself and in getting the most out of living. The majority of people who complete the programme report lasting physical and psychological benefits including:

  • An increased ability to relax
  • Greater energy and enthusiasm for life
  • Heightened self-confidence
  • An increased ability to cope more effectively with both short and long-term stressful situations.

 

The aim of the programme is to learn new ways to manage challenging physical sensations, feelings, moods or social interactions.

 

Who is the course for?

 

The course is for beginners and for people who have meditated before in other settings who want to deepen their practice. The only course invites participants to commit to daily home practice working up to 45 minutes a day.

Jo is Senior Lecturer at The University of Worcester and is an experienced Cognitive Behaviour Therapist, having started her career in the NHS over 12 years ago, delivering individual and group base psychological interventions. She has practiced mindfulness for several years and uses it in both individually and in, group based settings. Jo completed level 1 mindfulness teacher training course in 2016 and is working towards a certificate of competency, with the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at Bangor University. Jo adheres the UK Good Practice Guidelines for Mindfulness-Based Teachers.

  1. Course fees are payable upon booking.  I reserve the right to cancel any booking if payment is not received within 7 days of booking.
  2. You may cancel your booking at any time.  You have the right to cancel your booking and receive a full refund within 14 days of booking.  If you cancel your booking at any time less than 7 days in advance of the first date of the course, you will not receive a refund.  You may substitute delegates at any time provided that you notify me of the name of the replacement as soon as practicable.
  3. I reserve the right to make changes to the course content, to the location and dates of the course and to the presenter(s).  Should it be necessary to cancel the course for any reason then you will be refunded in full.  However, I cannot accept responsibility for any loss or damage that arises as a result of cancellation.
  4. I cannot accept responsibility for delegates’ actions resulting from their attendance on this course nor for their or others actions resulting from reliance upon or interpretation of the course materials.
